Maria Csupros's Column

The Maria Column was made in memory of the colera. Originally it was located at the crossroads of Papszer and Szemere street, but later it was relocated to Mindszent Square in front of the Mindszent Church.  The statue Immaculata get her nickname (Maria Csupros) in the era when markets were held there and the traders was hanging their goods on the gate which surrounded the statue.  

The figure of Maria is standing on a globe on the top of the column.

Earlier the foot of the column was decoreted with statues of saints.
